Creating a safe cycle network for Chippenham
We want to make it easier for the community to cycle their short journeys – including children cycling to school.
Home: Welcome
Giving our community freedom and independence
Many of our community – particularly our young people – would like to cycle their short journeys, but a lack of safe routes means they don't.
We're working to change that, by creating a network of car-free paths and quiet streets.

Benefits for the whole community
The network we're creating will benefit the whole community – use it to commute, shop, access healthcare, or recretation.

It even benefits people who don't cycle.

More journeys cycled means fewer cars on the road, which cuts congestion, improves air quality, and makes our buses more reliable.
How we're improving Chippenham's cycle network

Channeling local and national government investment into developing a safe cycle network in Chippenham, comprising quiet roads and off-road cycleways
Ensuring new developments provide for cycling, by working with the council, developers and other stakeholders
Adding and improving cycle parking and route signage around the town
